Storage

Store away from naked flames and excessive heat.

Colorcode is not affected by frost.

Application

The asphalt surface should be dry, clean and free of oil spillage. Birdlime and other deleterious matter removed and the surface swept free of all dust, grit and lichen.

Where lichen or moss has become established, this should be vigorously scrubbed with fungicidal solution and allowed to stand for 24 hours. When the surface is dry, re-sweep to remove all loosened debris. Again wet the surface with the with Fungicidal Solution and allow to dry thoroughly before applying Colorcode.

Colorcode is supplied in ready for use consistency, but should be agitated thoroughly before use.

Apply three coats to a dry surface, using a 9" fluffy polyester roller with an extended handle or an airless spray.

Allow up to 24 hours drying time between the three coats.

If ambient temperatures are 10°C and over, very much shorter drying periods are required. Ensure that the surface to be coated is free from any moisture due to overnight weather conditions before the second and third coats are applied.

Rollers can be kept soft overnight by wrapping tightly in a polythene bag.

Airless spraying is preferable for large areas. Equipment information is available on request from W. H. Screeton Technical Department.

Coverage

Average coverage on a smooth asphalt surface is approximately 4 m2 per kilo per coat when applied by roller.

When using airless spray, contact Technical Department for further information.

Water

Impermeable to water. It can be applied in large areas which have ponding water without any effect on the dried film.

Heat/Light

Colour fast. Will not fade, can be applied to a surface that is hot from solar heat gain.

Slip Resistance

Colorcode has a slip retardant quality built in.

Mechanics

Adhesion - a very good adhesion to asphalt surface. Will not flake or blister and is unaffected by frost and/or ponding water.

Biological

Colorcode contains an algaecide which will inhibit the growth of moss and lichen.

Safety

Colorcode is inflammable and therefore must not be applied where naked flames are present.

Durability

A three coat application of Colorcode will retain its appearance subject to traffic density.

General Description

White, Red, Green and Black coating to provide a colourfast finish to asphalt surfaces. It does not flake or blister and will stand prolonged immersion in water, freezing conditions and application when the surface temperature is high due to solar heat gain. Subject to good housekeeping the coating will provide a high level of oil resistance.

Applications

For car parking areas, warehouse bay marking, tennis courts, net ball courts, squash courts, cycle pathways, terraces, balconies and driveways. Wherever an asphalt surface requires colouring and protecting.

Composition & Manufacture

Colorcode is not an emulsion and contains no water sensitive pigments or toxic pigments. It has been developed after years of experience in conjunction with asphalt roofing.

Appearance

Colorcode dries to form a semi-matt coloured finish.

Repair

Should repair to the asphalt be necessary, thoroughly wire brush the Colorcode coating which comes within the overlap area before laying new asphalt.

Distribution

Supply via National Distributors. Packing: supplied in 5 kgs. and 25 kgs. drums.

Fungicidal Concentrate

To prepare for use add 200 parts clean water to 1 part Fungicidal Concentrate.

Remove as much algae, moss, lichen and birdlime by scraping and sweeping with stiff bristle broom.

Then sweep over the surface with the diluted Colorcode Fungicidal Concentrate (200 : 1) allow to dry.

Then re-sweep to remove all loosened debris. Again wet the surface with the diluted Colorcode Fungicidal Concentrate (200 : 1) and allow to dry thoroughly before applying Colorcode according to manufacturers instructions.

Harmful substance if taken internally.

PROTECT EYES AND SKIN

Wash off under running water if splashed.

Supply via National Distributors. Packing: supplied in 5 kgs. and 25 kgs. drums.
