Retroflect used on flat roofs at The Tower of London |
Flat and pitched roofs, like any other, have a shorter life if not properly protected from environmental influences. One of the major risks for bare roofs is the blistering, cracking, shrinkage, embrittlement and eventual membrane breakdown that can occur with excessive heat buildup.
Retroflect can significantly reduce surface temperatures on steel storage tanks thereby reducing energy costs of cooling and inert gas blanketing. In addition these reflective qualities can slow down the rate of degradation in calibration accuracy."

The solar reflective qualities of Retroflect can introduce passive air conditioning with significant energy savings, refer to Case History in the Energy Savings section of this site.
